Hey Everyone!
It's been awfully hot around these parts and I've been praying (seriously) for cooler weather. Don't get me wrong - I love my seasons, but when it's time for change - it's time! No if, ands, or buts 'bout it.
I was thinking that today maybe I could share with you a little fall & winter inspiration from years past. Hopefully this might get us all excited for fall and possibly speed up its arrival! : )
Last fall I collaborated with a good friend of mine, Melissa {www.whatmakesusclick.com} to create a unique and inspiring fall photoshoot. It was a dinner party mock-up with smooth earthy tones. We pulled many of the items from both of our homes, including furniture, tableware, and decor. The best tip that I would have for you this fall is to try and step outside of the boundaries of typical fall decor. Use natural elements found outdoors to incorporate a natural, comforting vibe. We used a unique fruit grown on the tree outside Melissa's home, called Quince. It was something we had never heard of before, but we enjoyed its uniqueness. We started with the fruit and went from there. We both loved natural earthy tones and industrial pieces of decor, so that was the second pattern that we carried throughout the space. Melissa had some lanterns sitting around, so we put some fresh candles in them and hung them with thick nautical rope we purchased at the local hardware store.

Last fall I also had the privilege of doing a photoshoot on the central coast. It was really on a whim. The jist is that I called up some old college roommates and we all jumped into the car with the trunk full of vintage items and drove to Montana De Oro State Beach about 30 minutes outside of Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo area.
That beach. That is the most gorgeous, romantic beach I've seen. Especially on a cold, overcast day. Super private, because you have to hike a mile to get there ; )
Needless to say it turned out amazing. I had one goal that weekend, and that was to photograph someone in the forest of Eucalyptus trees. It. was. magical.
